This weekend I am excited to be preparing for the beginning of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF) that will be taking place in Vancouver from January 17th-21st 2016.

This year is the first time that the APPF will be hosting a Meeting for Women Parliamentarians, of which I am humbled to be a co-chair along with Dr. Nurhayati Ali Assegaf. Together, along with other female parliamentarians, we will discuss issues that female parliamentarians should be aware of and working on. The collaboration and exchange of ideas is a perfect way to begin working towards new solutions to old problems, and I am eager to get started and meet with all the amazing women that will be in attendance.

For information on the conference, see this press release: https://conferencesparl.ca/APPF24FPAP/news-and-media/press-corner/appf_160115-mediaadvisory/appf_160115-MediaAdvisory

I will be blogging about my daily experiences and insights from this forum, and I hope you will follow along and share your thoughts with me on these issues of importance. One of the areas of focus of the meetings will be ensuring the complete participation of women in all areas of public and private life. The meeting for women parliamentarians will occur on January 17th 2016, and there will be lots to say on this and other issues.

I am looking forward to what I’m sure will be an informative and productive week!
